Dealing with Fear

Covid 19 coping with fear

We all experience fear in different stages in our life. Whether it’s a fear for our health, the well being of our loved ones, our safety, financial situation or the future. Fear shows up in our life in many forms.

The interesting thing about fear, is that it causes the same reaction in our bodies as excitement… Both of these emotions leads to the tightening of the chest, our heart to race and shortness of breath.

The only difference between fear and excitement is what our mind thinks! It is either thinking… “I hope this doesn’t happen” or “I cant wait for this to happen.”

Over the years I have learned a wonderful technique called the counting & shifting method to help turn fear into a desired outcome. In a quiet state, I envision or manifest the opposite result of what I am afraid of and shift my mind and focus toward that vision.

Dealing with fear, is one lesson from my 14 day program called the Skill of Manifesting, available online on Udemy.

What is Fear?

Flight or Fight fear

To a degree, fear is a healthy survival mechanism to keep us safe and alive. When we perceive danger, it causes our brain and body to respond immediately. This basic human instinct of fight or flight raises our sense of awareness and increases our heart rate so blood can flow to our muscles. But what happens when we let fear take over our life? “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”-H. P. Lovecraft

When we are consumed by fear it can be paralyzing. We cannot control that fact, but we still have full control over our mind. Since our mind and body have a strong connection, we can do many things to deal with the fear.

Positive Thoughts

When we shift our thoughts from fear to positive thinking, it actually raises our vibration. Since it is our vibration that attracts our experiences, focusing on the opposite result of what we fear and holding that image in our mind will actually begin to manifest the new reality in our life. In addition, Studies have shown the benefits of positive thinking not only relieves stress but also increase our immune system.

Meditation

The simplest and easiest method in dealing with fear is by practicing meditation and breathing. Although this might appear difficult, it is something that becomes easier and easier each day. Our mind is a powerful tool, it can attract positive or negative experiences though our thoughts. In order to shift our thoughts away from fear, we first need to quiet our mind. There are numerous ways you can do this. I prefer sitting in stillness for a few minutes each day and breathing in and out, in order to restore peace in my body. This not only reduces anxiety, but it also helps to sleep better at night.

Affirmations

Another way to deal with fear is by using positive affirmations. Repeating powerful mantras each day, in front of the mirror, can redirect our subconscious mind. There are many affirmations that you can say to help align you with health, inner peace and abundance.

I am Healthy and Strong!

I am Relaxed and at Peace!

I am grateful and abundant!

Daily Exercise

Exercise is another wonderful way to shift the mind and raise the vibration. Taking a walk, going on a hike or riding a bike releases “feel good” endorphins in our brain. Being in nature has a healing energy that allows us to connect with our highest vibration of joy and love.

Getting Creative

We all have a gift, a talent that makes us unique. It is something that fills us with joy and excitement. A wonderful way to deal with fearful thoughts is to get busy creating! This shifts our low vibration and helps raise our mood.

Getting creative not only helps divert our attention from fear, but it can open up our mind and thoughts to creating new ideas and experiences we wish to attract.
